At PLA...
we use Mother Goose Time curriculum for preschoolers. It's uniquely designed to support and help in having more time to observe, know and be with the children. We also use the A Beka learning programs which focus on the development of skills and knowledge to insure a foundation for lifelong training. Our school is also implementing the Accellerated Reading Software Program for all students from Kinder to 5th grade.
In separate classrooms, children are grouped according to age and ability, with all classrooms at or BELOW state mandated student-teacher ratios.
Daycare
We've designed a wondrous world to foster the daily development of infant minds and bodies. When your little one starts the learning journey with us we'll work with you to make the transition a smooth and happy time, creating a strong bond and a setting that feels like family. Each day your child will be discovering things using all five senses, copying simple actions of the people around them, experimenting with toy instruments, exploring textures, colors, and learning a variety of words and sounds through playing with other children. At PLA, we believe that purposeful play is early education.
Voluntary PreKindergarten
At PLA, we offer free VPK so that your child can gain independence while getting ready for the transition to kindergarten with a more organized environment. Our passionate teachers will partner with you during this special time making their VPK year the best it can be. The Voluntary Pre-kindergarten program is designed to prepare Florida’s children for kindergarten and develop the skills they need to become good readers and successful students. It includes standards for literacy skills, accountability, appropriate curricula, substantial instruction periods, manageable class sizes and qualified teachers. If you live in Florida and have a child who turns 4 years of age by September 1, your child is eligible for Florida’s FREE VPK program. Your child can attend one of the two programs offered annually. The school-year program includes 540 hours of instructional time and begins in August. The summer program consists of 300 instructional hours.

Kindergarten through Fifth Grade
At PLA, we carefully consider all aspects of a child's development: emotional, social, physical, and cognitive. We believe that children can best acquire a rich body of knowledge and the skills needed for future learning through a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and that builds upon itself year by year. It is our hope that our curriculum is an expression of PLA's mission, which is to inspire a love of learning, to build self-confidence, and to foster in our students the ability and desire to contribute to their community. We realize that the first years of a child's academic life are crucial ones in establishing positive attitudes and dispositions toward learning. We strive to build upon our students' curiosity, while instilling in them a spirit of cooperation, a respect for others and for their ideas, and a satisfaction in personal intellectual growth.
